Case summary
Resident of Simferopol. On 1 August 2023, law enforcement officers inspected his flat. According to the criminal case materials, the FSB officers had information about his involvement in pasting leaflets with a double-headed eagle pierced by a sword of blue-yellow colour and the words "Crimea is Ukraine" in the Ukrainian language. As alleged in the case, a TNT checker was found in Onuk's flat during the inspection. The same day he was detained under the administrative article on disobedience to the lawful demands of representatives of the authorities. The next day he was arrested for 13 days. Immediately after leaving the detention centre, he was detained and arrested again - he was charged with public display of prohibited symbols and discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. On 25 August 2023, a criminal case was opened against Onuk for possession of explosives, and he was taken into custody. On 30 August, a case of vandalism and desecration of the state coat of arms was opened against him. The cases were merged. The charge of possession of explosives, as noted by the "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" project, is based solely on Onuk's confession, from which it can be concluded that he gave it under pressure. In January 2024, when Onuk was finally charged, the pro-government TV channel "Crimean SMERSH" published a video of a half-naked Onuk kneeling on the floor between armed law enforcers. The message was accompanied by the text that the "PSYOP agent" "surrendered all the names and passwords". Leaflets were visible in the photos, but no explosives were seen. On 16 May 2024, Onuk was sentenced to five years in a general regime colony.
