Case summary
Vladimir Podrezov is a roofer (a fan of climbing on the roofs of high-rise buildings). He was detained together with another roofer Kirill Ishutin on 27 August 2014 after Ukrainian roofer Pavlo Ushivets (also known as Grigory Mustang Wanted) claimed responsibility for hanging the Ukrainian flag and painting a star on a high-rise on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment on the night of 20 August. Ishutin told the investigation that he participated in the preparation of the action together with Ushivets, Podrezov and a certain girl. Podrezov claims that although he did climb the building together with Ushivets, he did not participate in painting the star. On 28 August he was arrested by court decision and placed in the pre-trial detention centre. He was sentenced by the court of first instance to two years and three months in a general regime colony. The court of appeal replaced the colony with restriction of liberty
