Case summary

A resident of Artem (Primorsky Krai). He was prosecuted for public justification of terrorism and calls to extremism in connection with aggressive comments posted on VKontakte on 24 February 2022. Poletaev pleaded guilty, but stated that he had made the comments while in a highly emotional state due to the outbreak of war. He was initially placed under house arrest, which was later replaced with a travel restriction order. On 22 December 2022, he was sentenced to two years in a general regime penal colony. He was released on 22 November 2024.
