Case summary

Resident of Birobidzhan. On 12 February 2020, a case was brought against him for participation in an extremist organisation due to his involvement in the activities of the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles solely for their religious activities: holding meetings and worship services, and attracting new supporters. On 25 April 2022, Oleg Postnikov was sentenced to five and a half years suspended sentence. On 11 October, the Court of Appeal overturned the sentence and sent the case for review. On 23 August 2023, a similar sentence was handed down.

On 3 April 2025, Postnikov's home was searched in a new case in connection with the community's activities. He was taken into custody on charges of organising activities of an extremist organisation.

On 12 February 2026, the court sentenced him to six years and two months in a general regime colony.
