Case summary
A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region, formerly a member of the Yabloko party. A case was opened against him for incitement to terrorist activities. On 7 October 2020, he was sentenced to a fine of 400,000 rubles.
On 14 February 2024, Sharygin was detained on charges of participating in the activities of an extremist organisation: the grounds for the case were the reposting of a publication about the reopening of Navalny Headquarters and the publication of leaflet layouts of Navalny's team in the run-up to the elections. The next day the court placed him in custody.
Later, Sharygin spoke of a badge with Navalny's symbols had been planted to him. It was allegedly found in Sharygin's car, but this occurred at night without witnesses, a day after the car was seized.
Sharygin's mother stated in court that during the search all her personal savings for 40 years — 77 banknotes of 100 US dollars and 100 banknotes of 100 euros — were taken from her. This money was recognised as material evidence.
On 13 February 2025, Sharygin was sentenced to a 3-year term in a general regime colony.
