Case summary

А monk of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, lived in Belgorod Oblast. After the full-scale invasion, he published aggressive social media posts, including posts in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In October 2022, he was detained and taken into custody. The reason was reportedly aggressive statements calling for violence against representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies. In particular, he stated that those dissatisfied with the authorities should not attend peaceful rallies, but "make shivs and take Molotov cocktails" to kill "Putin and all that entire Jewish gang". On 12 July 2023, Hilarion was sentenced to five years in a general regime colony.
