Case summary
Slobodchikova, originally from the Novosibirsk area, moved to Moscow. She was a consultant in IT and worked on accounting automation in large companies. Her mother's relatives live in Ukraine. On 3 May 2023, Nina was detained. That day, she was supposed to fly to Novosibirsk and then to Belgium on a business trip. According to her, the case files stated that "on the day of the detention, she was planning to get to Novosibirsk to flee to the European Union afterward". She was charged with funding the Armed Forces of Ukraine and taken into custody. According to the investigation, she transferred 5000 roubles to the Ukrainian blogger's bank account, and the funds were later used to buy "ammunition and uniform for Ukrainian Armed Forces". Slobodchikova herself says that the transfer was intended for humanitarian aid.
Slobodchikova pleaded guilty and refused the services of a lawyer. Later she told Mediazona news outlet that law enforcement officers refused to admit lawyers to her, didn't transfer her correspondence, threatened to refuse her family entry to her apartment, and threatened to open more criminal cases against her. Nina also accused FSB officers of stealing her cat under the pretext of caring for him.
On 11 April 2024, Slobodchikova was sentenced to 12 years in a general regime colony.
