Case summary

A Resident of St. Petersburg. On 16 February 2024, the day news broke of Alexei Navalny's death, wrote "Putin killed Navalny" on a wall. This led to a criminal case being initiated on charges of hooliganism. Smirnov was taken in custody. In March 2024, he was placed under house arrest, and in June, he was released on a travel restriction order. He subsequently left the country. The charge was reclassified as vandalism.
