According to the investigation, in April 2017, he voluntarily joined the special purpose unit "Azov" of the National Guard of Ukraine. On the territory of the training bases located in the village of Urzuf of the DNR, he underwent training "for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities", acquired knowledge, practical skills and abilities during physical and psychological training sessions, learnt the rules of handling weapons, explosive devices, explosives. After that, as a senior mechanic-driver of the 1st tank platoon of the tank company of the separate special-purpose detachment "Azov", he took part in combat operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
