According to the investigation, Anna Sukhonosova was recruited by Lieutenant Colonel Igor Klimenko of the Ukrainian military intelligence service. She then proposed to her partner, Dolgopolov, that he co-operate with the Ukrainian security services in exchange for money.

Full summary
The partner (unmarried) of former Ukrainian army officer Dmitry Dolgopolov. After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, he joined the Russian Armed Forces, which led to a treason case against him in Ukraine.
In Russia, he and Anna faced similar charges and were detained on 29 September 2017.
She was kept in a pre-trial detention centre in Moscow.
On 28 February 2019, a panel of the North Caucasus District Military Court (Rostov-on-Don) presided by Aleksandr Generalov sentenced two defendants in the Crimean "spy" case - Major of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Dmitry Dolgopolov and his partner Anna Sukhonosova - to 10 years of strict and 9 years of general regime penal colony respectively.
