Case summary

A resident of Alushta (Crimea). On 30 March 2022, Tarapon's home was searched and he was detained. The next day, he confessed to the dissemination of deliberately false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The reason for the prosecution was the fact that, according to the investigation, he pasted a photo of his relative, a member of the National Guard who took part in military operations, with a signature accusing him of killing children, at the gate of his house. According to the project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial", Tarapon's wife was threatened with physical violence. On 21 October 2022, Tarapon was sentenced to two and a half years in a strict regime colony. According to lawyer Rifat Yakhin, the severity of the punishment is explained by the fact that Tarapon was previously convicted in a case of illegal sale of drugs. On 18 April 2025, Tarapon was released from prison.
