Case summary

Vasily was a witness in the case of five alleged members of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Ural city of Chelyabinsk (Salavat Khabirov, Alfred Shaimov, whose group, according to the investigation, Tkachev belonged to, and others). He was charged with participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation, and on 3 August 2016, was sentenced to eight years in a general regime colony. Presumably, he was released in January 2024.
