Having undergone military training on the territory of the village of Orlovshchina, Dnipropetrovsk region, as an assistant grenade launcher of the 48th separate assault battalion, he took part in combat operations against civilians of the Donetsk People's Republic and servicemen of the Russian Federation".

A Ukrainian serviceman. Criminal proceedings were initiated against him on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, in connection with alleged involvement in the Noman Chelebidzhihan Battalion. In July 2025, the case was referred to court. On 7 October 2025, Evgenii Tolstoi was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment in a strict-regime penal colony.
