According to investigation, "in the period from August 2022 to March 2023," "according to his assigned role in the extremist community, he carried out his criminal activities by shooting videos and then posting them by unidentified persons on the Internet, including on the YouTube video hosting channel Navalny LIVE, on the Navalny's Team channel on the Telegram social network. In addition, "in the period from August 26, 2022 to February 22, 2023," "in order to discredit the current government, he interviewed people using video, asking provocative questions in public places in Moscow and the Moscow region." For following the instructions of Ivan Zhdanov, Nina Volokhonskaia, "and other unidentified leaders and members of the extremist community, as part of the implementation of these joint extremist activities, as well as for the costs incurred to ensure it, he received funds and cryptocurrency from unidentified members of the extremist community and other persons involved in the activities of Anti-Corruption Foundation."

Full summary
A student of the Department of Contemporary Art at the Higher School of Economics, School of Design. On 27 July 2023, he was detained and sent under house arrest as part of a case of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation. TV propagandist Vladimir Solovev claimed that Trofimov and his fellow student Alina Olekhnovich were activists in Navalny's "underground headquarters" and were "helping the Anti-Corruption Foundation". In August 2023, the decision to place Trofimov under house arrest was overturned and he was taken into custody. Later it became known that the charge was reclassified from participation in the activities of an extremist organisation to participation in the activities of an extremist community. On 14 March 2024, Trofimov was sentenced to three and a half years in a general regime penal colony. In December 2025, he was allegedly released from prison.
