Igor Varchuk

According to the investigation, on 22 September 2024, at a training ground located near the village of Orlovshchyna in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine, he voluntarily took an oath and joined the 48th Separate Assault Battalion of the Krymskotatarskyi Volunteer Battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan, recognised as a terrorist organisation by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on 1 June 2022. From 22 September to 21 October 2024, for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, he underwent training at the said training ground in tactical-special, firearms, combat, medical, physical, and psychological disciplines. Upon completion, he was provided with uniforms, weapons, ammunition, and other equipment for participation in combat operations as part of the battalion. Subsequently, from 25 October to 8 November 2024, Varchuk I.F., performing the duties of a rifleman, took part in combat operations within the 48th Separate Assault Battalion of the Krymskotatarskyi Volunteer Battalion in the Velikonovoselivskyi municipal district of the Donetsk People’s Republic, in the areas of the villages of Karl Marx and Shakhterskoye. I.F. Varchuk did not inform the authorities about his involvement in the terrorist organisation or his training for the purpose of conducting terrorist activities and was captured on 8 November 2024 by servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during reconnaissance.
