Case summary

Resident of Arkhangelsk, large northern city of Russia on White sea. Konstantin works as a long-haul truck driver.

A criminal case was opened against him in April 2020 because of his comments about the explosion organised by Mikhail Zhlobitsky in the Arkhangelsk FSB. At the interrogation Vasilyanov refused to express his attitude to the charges, and later, already at the trial, did not admit his guilt. A representative of the civil rights organisation Pravozaschita Otkrytki specified in a conversation with a local media FlashNord that in his commentary the Konstantin did not justify terrorism, but, on the contrary, condemned it.

On 2 April 2021, he was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of 350 thousand rubles (US$ 3800).
