Case summary

Resident of Crimea. After the annexation, went to Ukraine, where he took part in the collection of aid for the Ukrainian army and, possibly, in the ATO fighting in Donbas. Participated in the blockade of Crimea. Detained in Crimea in 2016 in a case of high treason, taken into custody, he was transferred to Moscow. The official report on the detention appeared more than two months later. Throughout this period Yatskin was in isolation, only after the appearance of information about the criminal case he had a lawyer under the agreement. The lawyer was given a non-disclosure undertaking. The lawyer claims that in detention Yatskin was threatened with trouble against the family. In January 2021, it was learned that three months earlier, Yatskin had suffered some sort of injury in prison (allegedly falling in his cell), possibly fractured ribs, and had not received medical attention. On 28 January 2021, the house of Yatskin's wife's parents was searched for drugs. On 21 May 2021, Yatskin was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
