A resident of Gatchina (Leningrad Oblast). He worked in the police for some time. In recent years, up until his arrest, he worked as an electrician. He was detained and taken into custody in March 2025. He was prosecuted for publicly justifying terrorism over two comments. One was posted under a report about a terrorist attack in Moscow on 24 July 2024, when a car carrying a serviceman from a military unit registered in a building of the Main Intelligence Directorate was blown up, resulting in the loss of his feet. The investigation claims that the car was destroyed on the orders of the Security Service of Ukraine. The second comment concerned a drone strike on a residential building in Engels (Saratov Oblast).

On 2 September 2025, the court sentenced Zaretsky to a fine of 400,000 rubles. He was released from custody in the courtroom.
