Case summary

A lawyer from the Kaliningrad region. On 7 March 2025, the Investigative Committee reported his detention in the case of calls to terrorism on the Internet due to a comment made in October 2024. On 11 March, Zavgorodny's lawyer's status was suspended.

"Slovo Zashite", citing Kaliningrad lawyers, wrote that the reason for the case was a comment in which Zavgorodny expressed regret that a Ukrainian drone did not hit representatives of the country's top leadership during one of the strikes on Russian territory. The newspaper also wrote that Zavgorodny was in a pre-trial detention centre, but his current measure of restraint is unknown.

On 8 July 2025, the prosecutor's office reported that the case had been transferred to court. On August 13, Zavgorodny was sentenced to a fine of 390,000 rubles.
