Case summary

He studied to become a forensic expert, planned to become a psychoanalyst and was fond of hitchhiking. Since 24 February, he had been posting posts in support of Ukraine on social networks. He was detained and arrested for 15 days on 9 March under the administrative article on petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences) - the police claimed that he was swearing in the hallway. According to the telegram channel "Beware of the news!", while Zhuravlev was in a special detention centre, a case was brought against him for participation in the activities of an extremist organisation, the reason being tickets to Minsk and anti-war posts on "VKontakte. Later he was also accused of participation in an illegal armed formation. At the trial, Zhuravlev claimed that he planned to send a letter to Zelensky through the Ukrainian embassy. The court considered Zhuravlev insane and on 15 August 2022 issued a ruling on forced hospitalisation.
