Case summary
On April 23 2019, detained on suspicion of involvement in the attack on police officers during a rally against the transfer of land to Chechnya on 27 March. The next day he was sent to a pre-trial detention centre in Nalchik.
On February 27 2020, he was sentenced to a year and nine months in a settlement colony. On April 13, the court of appeal left the sentence unchanged, but, unlike the court of first instance, found a political motive in Aushev's actions. On April 15 he was released.
