He was taken into custody on charges of participation and organisation of mass disorder and use of violence against a representative of the authorities in connection with the dispersal of a people's gathering in Baymak on 17 January 2024 in support of activist Fail Alsynov, sentenced to four years in prison. On 26 February 2025, Abdullin was sentenced to five years in a general regime colony.
