Case summary

Bekzod Bakirov was detained on 22 December 2016 along with six others on suspicion of involvement with Tablighi Jamaat and was subsequently remanded in custody. During the trial, he testified that FSB officers had subjected him to "physical and psychological pressure" to coerce a confession. On 17 September 2018, he was sentenced to four years in a general regime penal colony. He was released in October 2019.
