According to investigators, in May 2014, while in Starobelsk district, Mikhail Beseda voluntarily joined the 'Aidar' assault battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which is designated as a terrorist community. He allegedly participated in hostilities on the territory of the 'Luhansk People's Republic' against civilians and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In June 2021, Beseda posted a video on social media containing knowingly false information about the conduct of the USSR during the Second World War, the Days of Military Honour, and Russia’s memorable dates. Furthermore, in March 2022, he disseminated knowingly false information regarding the use of the Russian Armed Forces on a banned social network, presenting the posts as credible reports.
