Case summary
Originally from Arkhangelsk, he suffers from a chronic illness and has elderly relatives who are his dependents. He was detained in the case of violence against a representative of the authorities at a rally in support of Alexei Navalny on 31 January 2021, in the video he apologised to the police officer. On 4 February Bogdanov was taken into custody. On 31 March, he was sentenced to a year and a half suspended sentence. The court of appeal left the decision unchanged, but the court of cassation satisfied the complaint of the prosecution, which considered the sentence too lenient, and sent the case for review. On 7 June 2022, the court of first instance sentenced Bogdanov to four months in a penal colony and released him due to time served. On 18 August, the appeal court increased the sentence to six months, so that Bogdanov would have to spend about two months in a penal colony.
