Case summary
On the 12th of June 2018, he was detained following a search, and on the 14th of June, he was taken into custody on charges of organizing activities for an extremist organization. He was released on the 20th of May 2019, with a preventive measure in the form of a prohibition on certain actions.
Then, on the 20th of September, he received a sentence of three and a half years in a general regime penal colony.
On the 6th of February 2020, he was assaulted in the colony and subsequently placed in SHIZO (punitive isolation) on allegations of smoking, despite Budenchuk not smoking due to his religious beliefs.
Finally, on the 6th of July 2021, he was released.
