Case summary

On 7 May 2012, it became known that a criminal case was opened against Bugusynov in the village of Kosh-Agach in the Altai Republic on suspicion of organising a cell of the banned organisation Tablighi Jamaat. On 18 June 2013, the case was transferred to the court. Bugusynov claimed that the state prosecutor put pressure on his lawyer, threatening to place him in pre-trial detention, after which the lawyer stopped supporting Bugusynov's position in the case. In March 2014, the case was dismissed due to the expiry of the statute of limitations.
