Case summary

Head of the Tyumen regional committee of the "Russian Communist Labour" Party (RCLP). In November 2020, because of an action on the anniversary of the October Revolution, a case of violence against a representative of the authorities was brought against him. According to eyewitnesses, several police officers used physical force against Cherepanov at the rally. After that he was taken to the IC to give an explanation. "The policemen forcibly dragged me into the Gazelle and put me on the floor. I lay on my back for 20 minutes, as they held me down. I started shouting that I was unwell, asking for an ambulance, then the three of them started turning me over on my stomach", Cherepanov told Novaya Gazeta. On June 10, 2021, he was sentenced to a fine of five thousand rubles. On June 1, 2022, the cassation court overturned the verdict and sent the case for review. On September 29, 2023, the court of first instance again sentenced Cherepanov to a fine of five thousand rubles.
