Case summary

A Tyumen resident, a former employee of the Magnesia MRI diagnostic centre. On February 6th 2024, he was detained because of the graffiti "ROC [Russian Orthodox Church] supprots murderers". He was charged with vandalism and participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation because, according to the investigation, Gilishev had sprayed the graffiti on behalf of the Russian Freedom Legion after filling out a questionnaire form on their website. According to SOTAvision’s report, Gilishev was tortured with high voltage electricity, demanding that he state that he knew that the organisation was recognised as "terrorist" when he joined the legion. The medic did not deny that he had joined the organisation, but claimed he did not know it had been recognised as "terrorist". He later realised that he had filled out the form on the Legion's "fake" website. On December 24th 2024, Gilishev was sentenced to 15 years in a high security prison.
