In February 2017, detained and then arrested in a case of involvement in a terrorist organisation with alleged involvement in the activities of the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which has nothing to do with terrorism. On 21 February 2019, he was sentenced to 15 years in a strict regime penal colony.
