Case summary

On 14 March 2017, he tried to run away from the officers who came to detain him, fell from the fifth floor, was taken to hospital with a fractured spine. On 4 April he was placed under house arrest. On 31 October it became known that Gimaliev escaped from house arrest, he was placed on the federal and international wanted list. In February 2020, it became known that Gimaliev was detained and taken into custody.

On 18 May 2022, he was sentenced to 17 years in a strict regime penal colony.
