Case summary
Detained on 18 September 2019, and released the same day after interrogation. On 12 March 2020, he was detained again and drugs were found on him during the arrest. Despite the fact that neither weapons nor explosives were found on him, he was still charged with the relevant offences, and accused of being a member of a terrorist group and being knowingly aware of the possession of weapons and explosives by other members. That day, he was only interrogated on terrorism charges, after which he wrote a confession. Only the next day, he was interrogated on the drug charge, and his detention was formalized. In June 2020, Mr. Khabibullin retracted his confession. He reported that after he refused to sign the search protocol during his second detention, he was beaten. He was also beaten on the way to the interrogation, and electrocuted during the interrogation. On 27 December 2023, the court ruled to send Mr. Habibullin for compulsory treatment.
