Alsina Khairullina

A resident of Kazan. On September 17, 2024, she was detained on charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization due to her alleged involvement with the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, and the following day, she was placed in custody.

The Hizb ut-Tahrir party was declared a terrorist organization and banned in Russia in 2003. Human rights advocates considered this ban unfounded, as there was no evidence linking the party’s members to terrorist activities. Twenty years later, the party openly expressed support for terrorist actions against Israel. Nevertheless, in Russia, individuals are prosecuted not for public statements, and certainly not for involvement in attacks, but solely on the basis of alleged membership - usually limited to meetings in private apartments and the study of literature.
