Case summary
He served as a stoker-steamfitter in a military unit of the Aidar Battalion. He lived in the Luhansk region of Ukraine. On August 31, 2022, men in military uniforms with National Guard insignia burst into his home, searched it, and detained him. Only three months later, his wife received a call from someone claiming to be an investigator, who said Ivashchenko was accused of participating in a terrorist organization due to his service in the battalion. On June 11, 2024, Ivashchenko was sentenced to six years in a general regime penal colony.
