Case summary

Izetov is a activist of the Crimean Solidarity movement. On 27 March 2019, he was detained following a search in his home, and the next day he was taken into custody on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation. He was first sent to a pre-trial detention centre in Rostov region but later transferred back to Crimea. In March 2020, it became known that Izetov was also accused of preparing to overthrow the constitutional order. Later it became known that Izetov's charge was reclassified from participation to organising the activities of a terrorist organisation. On 10 March 2022, he was sentenced to 19 years in a strict regime penal colony.
