Case summary
An activist of "Crimean Solidarity". On March 27th, 2019, he was detained after a search, and on the next day, he was taken into custody on charges of organizing activities of a terrorist organization. He was sent to a pre-trial detention center in the Rostov region and later transferred back to Crimea. In March 2020, it became known that Umerov was also charged with preparing to overthrow the constitutional order. On March 10th, 2022, he was sentenced to 18 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
