Case summary
"Crimean Solidarity" activist. On 27 March 2019, he was detained following a search and the same day placed in custody on charges of organising the activities of a terrorist organisation, in connection with alleged involvement in the Islamist party "Hizb ut-Tahrir", which has nothing to do with terrorism. He was sent to a pre-trial detention centre in Rostov region and later transferred back to Crimea. In March 2020, it became known that Bazarov was also accused of preparing to overthrow the constitutional order. In August, it became known that the charge was reclassified from organising the activities of a terrorist organisation to participating in them. On 10 March 2022, he was sentenced to 15 years in a strict regime penal colony.
