Case summary

In October 2021, law enforcers in Nikolaevsk-on-Amur searched the homes of Jehovah's Witnesses, who were accused of extremism because of their religion. Kletkin was placed for two days in a temporary detention centre. He was charged with participation in the activities of an extremist organisation. The court refused to place Kletkin in custody, after which the investigator took his signature on recognizance not to leave. On 30 July 2024, Kletkin was sentenced to six years' sentence on probation.
