Case summary

Resident of Orenburg, art director of the Pose club. In early March 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Special Police Force conducted a raid in the club, the video of which was posted by members of the pro-government movement Russian Community of Orenburg. In the video visitors to the club were humiliated and asked what they were doing in a "fag club". Also Russian Community of Orenburg said that 20 people were forced to write statements about "unlawful activities" of the place. The art director was detained and released from the police station only in the middle of the next day, forbidden to leave Orenburg. On 18 March he was summoned to an investigator, after which he was detained and taken into custody on 20 March on charges of organising the activities of an extremist organisation — an "international LGBT public movement". It is alleged that he "propagandised non-traditional sexual relations" on Telegram. On 18 June 2024, Klimov was transferred to house arrest.
