Case summary

Alikhan Maashayev, an acrobat and presumably a resident of Chechnya, was declared wanted in March 2024 in connection with a case of desecrating the “Eternal Flame” in Nevinnomyssk (Stavropol Krai). The case stemmed from a video showing three men performing acrobatic stunts near the Eternal Flame, during which they raised the soles of their feet toward it. He was later placed under house arrest.

On 23 October 2024, Maashayev was sentenced to one year in a penal settlement and taken into custody in the courtroom. He was presumably released in June 2025.
