Case summary
A resident of Veliky Novgorod. On 26 December 2024, he was fined under an administrative offence for publicly displaying prohibited symbols, due to an LGBT flag on his VKontakte page. No earlier than June 2025, a criminal case was opened against him for repeatedly publicly displaying Nazi symbols, after he posted a photograph featuring a swastika. The court press release stated that this involved repeated public display of specifically Nazi symbols. On 29 December 2025, Markin was sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
