Case summary

On 27 July 2019, Medenkov was detained during the dispersal of a rally in support of opposition politicians who had not been not allowed to run in the Moscow City Duma elections. He was fined 10 thousand rubles (US$100) under the article on participation in an event that created obstacles to transport and pedestrians. On 8 August, Medenkov was summoned for questioning in the town of Shchelkovo near Moscow, where he was asked to explain his detention at the rally.

On 3 December, it became known that Medenkov was put on an international wanted list and arrested in absentia on charges of using violence against a representative of the authorities.
