Case summary
He is a resident of Alushta (Crimea). On June 10, 2019, he was detained and the next day taken into custody on charges of organizing the activities of a terrorist organization in connection with his alleged involvement in the activities of the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir. Later, it became known that Mesutov was also charged with preparing for a violent overthrow of the constitutional order.
On August 16, 2021, he was sentenced to 18 years in a strict regime colony.
