Case summary
He is a resident of Alushta (Crimea). On June 10, 2019, he was arrested and taken into custody the next day on charges of organizing the activities of a terrorist organization in connection with his alleged involvement in the activities of the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is not associated with terrorism. It was later reported that Kantimirov was also charged with preparing to violently overthrow the constitutional order.
On August 16, 2021, he was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime penal colony.
