According to the prosecution, in the period from February 2022 to January 2024 Sergei Mironov, dissatisfied with the political course of the Russian Federation and the special military operation conducted by the Armed Forces of Russia, had been in correspondence with a representative of Ukraine's intelligence services via the telecommunications network "Internet" and had proactively expressed his desire to join the AFU and participate in combat against the Russian Federation. In confirmation of his intentions, he recorded a video on his mobile phone where he stated his desire to switch to the side of the enemy and sent it to the representative of Ukraine's intelligence services via an Internet app. With the money provided by the AFU officer Mironov bought train tickets to travell to the territory of Ukraine and collected the necessary items for participation in combat. However, he was unable to complete his unlawful actions against the security of the Russian Federation, as he was arrested by law enforcement officers after boarding the train.

A resident of Kamyshin, Volgograd region. On 13 February 2024 he was detained at the railway station and then detained for 14 days under the administrative article on petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences). On 27 February 2024 upon the end of the arrest term, he was detained again for 14 days under the same article. When the second term of administrative arrest ended, Mironov was taken into custody on charges of preparation for high treason. According to the prosecution, he intended to join the AFU. On 4 February 2025 Mironov was sentenced to nine years in a strict regimen colony.
