Case summary

Ilmir Motygullin was detained on 24 October 2018 and later taken into custody on charges of organising activities of a terrorist organisation and participation in such activities in connection with his alleged involvement in the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which has nothing to do with terrorism. He was later charged with participation only.

On 14 February 2020, he was sentenced to 13 years in a strict regime colony.
