Case summary
On 29 April 2019, Nalgiev was detained on suspicion of involvement in the attack on police officers during a protest against transferring land to Chechnya on 27 March in Magas. He was sent to a pre-trial detention centre in Nalchik.
On 13 December, he was sentenced to a year and four months in a penal colony. He was released on 6 February 2020. On 24 June, the court of cassation returned the case to the court of first instance. On 27 July, he was sentenced to a year and a month in a general regime colony, and the court found Nalgiev's actions politically motivated.
