Case summary

A resident of Surgut, he worked at Surgutneftegas. He participated in the activities of a libertarian library founded by Nikita Oleinik. He was detained at his workplace on September 1, 2022. Paklin later reported that he had been subjected to electric shocks and pressured to provide incriminating testimony. On September 3, he was transported to Tyumen, where he was taken into custody. He was charged with participating in a terrorist community and plotting terrorist attacks alongside Oleinik and four other young people. Paklin was subsequently transferred to a different pre-trial detention center, separate from the others; his support group suspects this was done to exert psychological pressure. Paklin reported that his health had deteriorated significantly while in detention. In 2023, Paklin’s case was severed from the main proceedings, and he was ordered to undergo psychiatric treatment. In April 2024, Paklin’s case was suspended; however, in November, it became known that the prosecution had been resumed.
