Case summary

A resident of Yuryev-Polsky (Vladimir Region). A criminal case for defamation was opened against him over a collage in which military propagandist Sergei Trubkin was “dressed” in a Nazi uniform, after which the Nazi insignia were replaced with symbols of the “special military operation.” On 19 May 2023, Petrov was fined for 60,000 rubles. On 22 August 2023, an appellate court overturned the verdict and returned the case to the prosecutor’s office. The case was sent for additional investigation. In September 2024, the investigation was closed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. On 7 November 2025, the investigation was reopened but was closed the same day “due to the absence of elements of a crime in his actions.”
