detained in connection with a peaceful action by Greenpeace activists, who in September 2013 sailed on the Arctic Sunrise ship to the Prirazlomnaya drilling platform in the Pechora Sea to protest against the development of oil and gas fields on the Arctic shelf; the ship was forcibly stopped and everyone on board was detained. Russel was Charged with piracy, the charge was later reclassified to hooliganism. Detained since September 2013, released on bail in November 2013. Amnestied in December 2013
